New John Mark McMillan Out Today: Borderland
I participated in the Kickstarter campaign for John Mark McMillan's latest album, Borderland, which officially releases today. I've been able to listen to the album the last couple of weeks, and I must say, it is incredibly good. My favorite stuff he's come out with so far. He is one of my favorite songwriters out there. I highly recommend this new album.

My Top 10 Favorite Albums of 2013
My musical tastes are quite eclectic, as evidenced by my list below. I have no sophisticated method of coming up with this list each year. I just go through everything that came out in 2013 that I found myself listening to a lot, and here's the list of my favorites. I don't listen to everything, so there are likely some really good albums not on this list. There's also a few that probably won't make any other lists, but I couldn't stop listening to them. I also included a few EPs that were too good to leave off the list.
The top spot was really tough for me. Vampire Weekend grew on me over the course of the year and is a spectacular album, but Beautiful Eulogy's sophomore album was simply too good to not claim the top spot. Chvrches was a big surprise, since electronic is not usually my style, but it quickly won me over and has been listened to so much over the past months. Jason Isbell has become one of my favorite songwriters, and Southeastern is an amazing work. I saw twenty one pilots when they opened for another band a few years ago and was hooked. So glad their official debut came out this year. The Gray Havens' EP is a beautiful work of art, and I am so excited to hear their new full-length album they are currently working on. Daft Punk didn't hit me the first few listens, but eventually grew on me enough to make the list. James Bay's EP showcases a guy who I hope will blow me away with his debut album. Alter Bridge is a sentimental favorite for me, but their fourth album is also a work of metal genius with some of the best singing on any rock album. Finally, Lorde's debut album was similar to Chvrches for me. Not usually my style, but her incredible songwriting won me over.
